I have been a patient with Dr Ziyar for several years . He has helped me tremendously. He is always available when I need him, he is very compassionate. He listens which is so refreshing. He always asked me how am I doing as well as my family! He gives advice which I do appreciate and follow. If I have questions regarding medication he is always willing to listen and we both come to the best solution. Most importantly he has never been judgemental! I would recommend Dr Ziyar very highly as well as his staff. Thank you for getting me on the right track Dr Ziyar..

Our Facility have used and still do, the services of Dr. ZIYAR since 2000 and every time we have a new resident who needs assistance with behavior etc. we ask for his services. Even when we find out after that the insurance carrier was not accepted, he still saw the patient. The front desk folks are always professional and friendly always with a smile. The doctor is very professional in dealing with his patients, listening to their concerns and also attentive to my inputs as their care provider.Even after Covid, he continues to call us monthly for updates and when we need to see him, he’ll see us that same day or even come to the home. We at Mabuhay Gardens value the services of Dr Ziyar’s office.

Stay Far Away From Dr. Latif Ziyar
If you're looking for a psychiatrist who prioritizes your well-being and provides organized, reliable care, then Dr. Latif Ziyar's office is absolutely not the place for you. My experience there, from the very first appointment, was a frustrating odyssey of questionable medical practices, medication errors, and a shocking lack of professionalism.
Let me start by saying I came to Dr. Ziyar seeking help in getting back on ADHD medication after a period without it. During my initial consultation, however, it became immediately clear that Dr. Ziyar was more interested in prescribing medication than actually listening to my concerns. He would ask questions and then cut me off mid-answer, launching into suggestions for medication regimens before I could even fully explain my situation. This push to medicate reached a peak when, upon mentioning I also sometimes experience anxiety, Dr. Ziyar casually proposed a combination of Vyvanse and Pristiq. Alarmingly, even a cursory Google search reveals this combination can trigger a dangerous medical condition known as serotonin syndrome.
Not only was the medication suggestion concerning, but the starting dosage for Vyvanse Dr. Ziyar wanted to prescribe was excessively high. Thankfully, I had done my own research beforehand and felt empowered to advocate for a lower, safer dosage to begin with. This initial interaction left me feeling like a number rather than a patient, and it certainly wasn't a vote of confidence in Dr. Ziyar's attentiveness or medical judgment.
Unfortunately, the problems didn't end there. The disorganization within the office became a recurring theme throughout my treatment. It took an extra two weeks to obtain my initial prescription due to a combination of the pharmacy being out of stock and, unbelievably, Dr. Ziyar forgetting to include the necessary DAW: Yes notation for my Medi-Cal insurance. This oversight could have easily resulted in me having to cover the medication costs myself, adding insult to injury.
Then came the phone call about a follow-up appointment. Despite clear communication on my end regarding the need to reschedule due to the medication delay, the office staff somehow placed the blame on me for the mix-up. Dr. Ziyar's solution? To simply call him whenever I needed a refill, bypassing the need for an appointment altogether. While this might seem convenient on the surface, it raised serious concerns about potential lack of monitoring and overall treatment continuity.
Following Dr. Ziyar's instructions, I called the office when I was about to run out of medication. Imagine my surprise when I picked up the prescription to discover it was for the higher, 50mg dosage of Vyvanse, despite having specifically discussed the need for 30mg with Dr. Ziyar. Since the medication was already showing positive effects at the lower dosage, I decided to take the 50mg to avoid potential disruption during a busy work week. However, this decision only fueled my frustration when, at the next appointment, Dr. Ziyar completely disregarded my explanation and had the audacity to question why I would take the higher dosage. He even attempted to deflect blame, first suggesting I requested it (a complete fabrication) and then implying the pharmacy somehow altered the prescription on their own (an assertion both illogical and legally impossible).
This appointment further highlighted Dr. Ziyar's concerning lack of attentiveness. When I reminded him that I had specifically requested to stay on the 30mg dosage due to the side effects experienced with 50mg, he again disregarded my concerns and repeated his suggestion of the Vyvanse-Pristiq combination, which I once again refused.
The medication mishaps continued. The next refill was incorrect as well, missing the DAW: Yes notation, rendering it unfillable by the pharmacy. My attempt to address this via voicemail over the weekend proved futile, and on Monday, the woman I spoke with at the office displayed an appalling lack of professionalism and basic competence. Despite my clear explanation of the situation, she repeatedly claimed she "didn't know what to do" and offered no solutions. Instead of seeking Dr. Ziyar's guidance or taking ownership of the problem, she placed me on hold repeatedly and expressed utter confusion regarding how to access my prescription information. It felt like I was dealing with someone completely untrained and indifferent to my needs as a patient.
When she finally returned to the call, her response was simply, "What do you want me to do?" This dismissive attitude, bordering on hostility, was beyond unacceptable. Her only solution was to speak to Dr. Ziyar and then hang up without offering any follow-up or timeline for resolving the issue. Further calls throughout the day were met with similar rudeness from this same staff member.

Having been a patient of Dr. Ziyar’s for 16 years, I can attest to his care of patients. Dr. Ziyar has always treated me with kindness, respect and with the utmost of care. I always feel confident that he understands my illness and that he wants to help me rather than cure me. He always listens to what I say and helps me understand what’s going on in my head. I can’t thank him enough for all he’s done for me. I definitely recommend him. You’ll not be disappointed!!!

I have sent a feedbacks. After I have read all of the negative feedback I honestly do not understand where they are coming from. Dr Ziyar and staff are wonderful professional physicians/NP and the receptionist is so sweet and goes out of her way. Dr Ziyar is kind. He listens. He helps you through your issues I have been with him for a few years and he and his staff has helped me so much that I am me again
They are there anytime you need them. I don't understand why the terrible things they are saying. They treat you with respect, and there is never judgement. Perhaps they are not giving him a chance he has a busy practice. If it's for medicine you are only going to get then you will get the meds you need for your condition. He helps, Give him a chance. Again as I said before, do your homework before you seek a Physician. Appts are always available. They are not rude. I apologize but I must stand up for Dr Ziyar and his staff. Dr Ziyar has such a great sense of humor

Dr. Ziyar and his staff have are very professional. They have helped me through some very diffcult times without judgement. I would recommend Dr Ziyar he is truly a kind, caring Physician who will take the time to actually listen to you and not just tell you what you want to hear which I do admire in a Physician . I still do not understand some of the feedback that I have read on his reviews. If you truly need and want help he is the one you want to see.

Dr Ziyar is a wonderful caring doctor. He is more concerned about his patient's then about making money. I've been to another doctor and all he was concerned about was making money off of me. He wanted me to be on the medicine for a long time he was telling to take it the wrong way. I highly recommend Dr Ziyar to anyone who wants to live a healthy life. His staff is also very caring. I can't thank them enough for taking me on as a patient.

Dr. Ziyar helped me when I was a teenager struggling with crippling depression. He never gave up on me. He helped me get on the right medication to control my symptoms, so I could work through my issues in outside therapy. Years later (now an adult) I ended up being a therapist myself, and I frequently consult with psychiatrists for my clients. Dr. Ziyar is one of the best psychiatrists I know. He was always honest, trustworthy, and professional. I am deeply grateful for the help I received from him, and I am thankful for being lucky enough to have him help me during a time in my life when I needed it most.
